Back from a super amazing time in Japan. I wish I had drawn a little bit more, but it was so intense that I simply wanted to be in the moment to absorb anything and everything around me. The nature and their attention to nature blew me away, like reconnecting with a long lost soulmate!

I am soooo enamored with Portal 2 right now. I've been listening to the National's Exile Vilify on loop nonstop for the past half hour. It's a song about Chell (or the rat man?) and shows up on a little radio in the game, how cool is that? Love you Valve.

My brain's been in storyboard mode lately. Life drawing was pretty boring yesterday so I started boarding songs I was listening to. This is from Joanna Newsom's You and Me, Bess. About a couple who're also (I imagine poor) thieves, woman gets caught and the man takes the fall for it, so lyrically magical. The first one is her getting the news, second is him getting carted off to the gallows.

Riot Grrl

Coloring for digital painting class we're taking in our last semester. This is probly the best I've done, like, ever.

Inspired by Bikini Kill which I listened to a lot last semester, good angry music. I'd listened to bands influenced by them like Sleater Kinney, but it wasn't really till now that I gave them a listen, after all these years. I remember pressing my nose up against Kill Rock Stars Records' window in Olympia as a teen thinking how incredibly cool it'd be to work there.
